The menu is overpriced to begin with, with limited options. I ended up ordering the $12 burger and was asked if I wanted cheese. I said yes and also asked if they had mushrooms. The waitress said yes, so I figured all was good. When I get the bill, it was $18! I think it would only be fair if they let you know everything cost extra, especially that much extra! The burger was a bit over cooked and equivalent to a $6 burger at an average American restaurant. My buddy ordered salad, but she had no idea what dressings were available, so she had to go check. We won't be back.

Every summer, my family and I are on a mission for 2 things : 1. The perfect spot at Parry Peak campground 2. New places to find killer drinks This trip to Twin Lakes checked both of those boxes this past weekend! My family and I ventured up to the campground early Friday morning to snag a great spot by the river - which we did, and after a day of hiking we were ready to quench our thirst with an ice cold beverage - which we did...at Twin Lakes Inn! Here are the takeaways: 1. The inn is very small but boats a nice dining area and a decent sized patio. We spotted a table in the shade that accommodated all of us and enjoyed the nice weather and conversation. 2. While they are known for their drinks, they do offer a few yummy appetizers and sammies that hit the spot. we noshed on bruschetta, the crab cake sliders, spinach dip all while sipping on the most delicious grapefruit Moscow mule! 3. Prices are decent for a small mountain town and the staff is friendly. I think this little slice of heaven will be a staple when visiting Twin Lakes!

I wish I would have read the yelp reviews before we made the drive from Leadville to Twin Lakes for Dinner. I confirm that this place has a bad attitude. When we entered the restaurant. The person at the desk said you MUST have a reservation to eat. He said we couldn't possible eat until 8:00 even though the house had few dinners. We asked if we could eat outside on one of the many empty tables. He said "no ". They were just too special to accommodate us on a Tuesday evening at 6:00 in July. I did check their ad in the Herald to check their hours and nowhere did it say you must make a reservation. This was all disappointing because in previous years both the food and staff were great. We didn't go last year and now we think the place has changed hands. Locals beware. This place is for flatland tourists who will come through once on their way to Aspen. Let's all wait for a new owner who will take over after this bunch goes down the tubes!

After hiking from Twin Lakes Dam, I was really struggling to make it back all the way to the dam to my car and the owners Margie and Doug offered me a ride back to my car after I had eaten a delicious meal and adult beverage. Andy the manager took care of our every need and was very helpful with setting up a future outing in June. Not many people would offer a complete stranger a ride and they did without blinking an eyelash about it. Saved me a great deal of pain and over 5.7 miles more of hiking. Thank you so much!

Shame on this place!! The lunch menu they provide online is nothing close to what is offered. While hiking the CT I went out of my way to come into town just to have lunch here. The view from the inn is amazing and that's why I gave it 2 stars. Dinner may be better but I would skip lunch. And they do not serve lunch till 2pm not 11am

We had a great dinner here. The ribs were amazing as was the tenderloin stroganoff. Good drinks too. The place is small, so make sure you have a reservation if you are not staying at the Inn. This place is much better than we expected.

This place is downright adorable! My wife and I stayed a few nights at the Lodge next door and had dinner here our first night in town. We weren't aware that we needed reservations, but the amazing staff bent their rules for us and served us dinner right away. The food was absolutely incredible. My wife has been talking for days about the grits used in their shrimp and grits dish. Everything was cooked perfectly with a lot of attention to fine detail with the garnishments. We also had a ribs, which were juicy and falling off the bone. Our waitress (Jen) was super friendly and entertaining. We had the opportunity to speak with the manager and he was just as kind and accommodating as the staff. We'll definitely be back!

My partner and I were vacationing with our 16 month old son. We stopped to inquire about a vacant room and were made to feel very unwelcome. The woman said she had one room available and commented that it was fortunate because there had just been a cancelation. She quoted the price and I said, "ok, sounds great." Then she said, "the only thing is that we don't have any cribs." I said, "that's no problem. He sleeps in the bed with me." Then she asked if he would be loud during the night. I said that I didn't think so. She said that the inn is small and they like to keep it quiet so they usually don't allow kids under 12 years old. She said she would have to make an exception for my son. She suggested that we might be more comfortable staying elsewhere so that we wouldn't have to worry if he did cry in the night. We felt unwelcome so we left and ended up finding a nice cabin right next door (Windspirit) for the same price. So if you are traveling with children under 12, you are better off avoiding this place because your family isn't welcome here. Furthermore, it seems there are nicer accommodations in Twin Lakes for the same (or less) money. At the Twin Lakes Inn you will share a bathroom with the other guests. The Windspirit cabin not only had a private bathroom, but a kitchenette and WIFI as well. The previous night we had stayed at the Winmar cabins down the road where we paid less money and had a nice spacious room with a private bathroom, kitchenette, and porch. Plus the inkeeper at the Winmar cabins was very nice and even brought over a toy for our son to play with which she said used to belong to her granddaughter.

Let's face it...there isn't a whole lot of competition for fine dining in Twin Lakes, CO, so we were pleasantly surprised to find the Twin Lakes Inn during our 10 day camping trip to Lakeview Campground. The menu wasn't particularly innovative, but the pork ribs were pretty danged delish, and the beef short ribs not far behind. While a bit pricey (there's that competition thing again!), it was a nice change of pace for us to have dinner out in the middle of our trip. And the homey atmosphere and pleasant staff was a nice bonus (as was the fact that they didn't turn us around at the door despite our obvious lack of recent showers! :-) We've already planned our 2014 camping trip to Twin Lakes, and will probably return to the Twin Lakes Inn to sample a bit more from the menu.

My husband and I just happened on this place after a stormy drive down Independence Pass and we were glad we did. The place was so cozy and the view was breathtaking from our table. We had the nicest waiter who gave us some great advice on where to go next. We both had the lunch special which was tuna salad on bagette and a wonderful salad. We also opted for the truffle fries which we smelled as soon as we got out of the car. That was the reason we stopped for lunch here in the first place. Great experience, so great we came back the next week.

I wish I could give this place a better review but 2 stars is being generous. The food is fairly good, albeit overpriced. The real problem is the service. Not only was it extremely slow, one of the waitresses was downright rude to my Mom. After we complained to another member of the waitstaff about the rudeness, the waitress stomped around giving us dirty looks for the rest of our time there. It was absolutely ridiculous! With the wait we had to order, the rude waitress, the extended time it took to get our food - the check should have been comped. I would be seriously embarrassed if I owned or managed this place.

We were really excited to try this spot. The building was quaint and in a beautiful location. They also have a lovely outdoor seating area. The ambience was the best part. My chicken sandwich was dry and the bacon on the BLT was inedible. The service was horrible. We never got ordered sodas and my tap beer glass was not served full. We gad to ask for our tab. They have a captive audience as the "only place in town" but...not worth the price.

We stayed here last week for one night and also ate at the restaurant. Our room was cozy and the hostess brought ice water up to our room upon our arrival. There are private bathrooms in some of the rooms - we had one of those rooms. Dinner was great - I had pan roasted walleye and my dining companion had elk, buffalo, and antelope meatloaf. Both dishes were excellent. Our waiter, Ken, was very friendly and attentive. We loved the rustic berry tart with ice cream that we had for dessert. We also enjoyed the continental breakfast the next morning along with the (what seemed to be homemade) chocolate chip banana bread. Overall a great experience!

My wife and I were driving from Aspen to Colorado Springs. We pulled off the road at Twin Lakes to stretch our legs and admire the natural beauty of the location. Since it was lunch time we surveyed the dining situation there in town. With low expectations we walked over to the Twin Lakes Inn to read the posted menu hoping for at least for a half decent burger. The hotel receptionist informed us that we could sit outside and our little dog was welcome. To shorten this review I'll say that our expectations were greatly exceeded. Our waiter was friendly and laid back. The big surprise was the high quality of the food we were served. My wife had a gourmet roasted tomato soup, and a turkey sandwich on homemade bread that were both delicious. I had a tuna salad sandwich on a homemade baguette with a house salad that was excellent. We shared an order of truffle fries that were as good as any we have eaten in Aspen. The menu had many more enticing items that we did not sample but would love to return to try in the future. I'm not sure about the other review posted here but our experience was nothing short of excellent. Again, we were very pleasantly surprised!

We'll always remember dinner at the Twin Lakes Inn, not because of the delicious food, but because of the rude female wait staff. As long as you order exactly what is on the menu without any special requests, you'll be fine. Ask for anything different and out come the claws. It's Twin Lakes, not Aspen. There's nothing to be snobby about. Get over yourselves.

Prices were good and we had a pleasant lunch. I ordered a chicken sandwich with a side salad. My husband had a BLT. Both were quite good. We will visit again.

We were in Aspen for about 3 days for a conference. We needed to escape immediately when it was over. Love the mountains, not the town. Twin Lakes was the perfect antidote. Yes, it's roadside, but it's a quiet road and the surrounding area is strikingly beautiful. The Inn is nothing fancy, but cozy and it feels appropriate to the surroundings (unlike Aspen, which feels appropriate to Silicon Valley). The absolute best part was the incredible attitude of everyone we encountered working there. We could not have felt more welcome. They seemed to be genuinely happy to be working there, and happy to serve and talk with us at every moment. The food was a bonus. There are so few food options nearby. This place could probably survive doing the minimum foodwise, like so many tourist restaurants. But they don't. They make a genuine effort at serving good fresh food. We left there feeling completely renewed.

August 2010: We stopped here on our way back to Denver from Aspen (via Independence Pass) for a bite of brunch. Based on our experience one year prior, we were expecting a fabulous & affordable meal...that's not what we got. The prior owners sold, and the family that owns the place now has thoroughly botched the job. All I can comment on is the "meal" we had...I can't comment on the lodging. The menu consisted of 3 choices of egg dishes (all prepared by some other vendor and just reheated by theses people...eggs with broccoli, eggs with spinach, and eggs with salsa), a couple of muffins & scones (again, not baked on-site...store bought) and orange juice. The owner informed us that they do not cook to order...everything is pre-made..."We are a BISTRO" he emphasized. Okay...well, note to self...do not ever eat at a BISTRO again. As we had our 3 young boys with us, we remarked that they wouldn't like any of the egg dishes (and, honestly, none of the dishes sounded good to me, either). The owner then commented that they'd be willing to serve us the "Special"...normally that's only reserved for customers who stay with them for lodging and not available to the "walk-in" public such as ourselves. But, he checked with his wife to make sure they had enough and came back to let us know we could order the "Special" if we wanted it...a breakfast burrito with eggs, turkey sausage and potatoes. We decided to try the Special. It was awful. Huge chunks of greasy turkey sausage, a few potatoes and even fewer scrambled eggs. All wrapped in a cold tortilla. Now, let's talk about the service. As I mentioned, the family that owns the place are apparently the sole employees as well. The child who greeted us and sat us was a young boy...around the age of 13, I'd guess? We, a family of FIVE, were sat at a table with FOUR chairs. When I looked at the kid, he just looked back...I then went and grabbed another chair. Our waitress was, presumably, his sister...around the age of 16 with the same level of social and restaurateur skills as her brother...and father, we soon came to find out. He tag-teamed his daughter in taking our order, and he was the one who informed us of the "Special". I'm all for family owned and operated businesses...but this family has a LOT to learn. In short, it was really uncomfortable. Add the bad food, and it just made the experience really unpleasant. Again, I cannot comment on the lodging accommodations. However, I can tell you that, based on my experience with the BISTRO side of their business, I would rather sleep in my car (with my husband and 3 boys) than stay in one of their rooms.
